Over the course of the two nights, members of the WWE Universe will converge on the City of Brotherly Love to take in 13 of the biggest matches in WWE history, including the in-ring return of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as he teams with his cousin Roman Reigns against Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes to determine the stipulation of the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship match the following night.

Rhodes lost against Reigns last year but built his way back up to becoming a true fan favorite with some fans calling him the new face of WWE. Crediting Michael Cole for the “finish the story” catchphrase, Rhodes has seen those words spread like wildfire. “The Grandson of a Plumber” has reflected and sees the term "finish the story" as something unique, similar to what he has done in the past.

“I actually talked to Triple H about this a few weeks ago. When I said the game was using ‘finish the story’ as a theme and I see (Hulk) Hogan talking about his story, Undertaker talking about his story, Steve Austin talking about his story. I felt like, oh, I’ve done something,” Rhodes said on Busted Open Radio via TJR Wrestling.

“I think the last thing that felt like it spread like wildfire a little bit was ‘Bullet Club is fine’, and that was fun, you know… being able to name FTR and those guys. That was a fun deal, but this seems to be on a whole other level.”

Other matches at the event will include the likes of Becky Lynch, Jey Uso, Rhea Ripley, and more.

WWE WrestleMania 40 fight card

Roman Reigns and The Rock vs. Cody Rhodes and Seth "Freakin'" Rollins

Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Becky Lynch for the Women's World Title

Gunther (c) vs. Sami Zayn for the WWE Intercontinental Title

The Judgment Day (Finn Balor and Damian Priest) (c) vs. #DIY (Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa) vs. The Awesome Truth (The Miz and R-Truth) vs. The New Day (Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) vs. A-Town Down Under (Austin Theory and Grayson Waller) vs. New Catch Republic (Pete Dunne and Tyler Bate) in a Six-Pack Ladder match for the Undisputed WWE tag Team Titles

Jey Uso vs. Jimmy Uso

Bianca Belair, Jade Cargill, and Naomi vs. Damage CTRL (Dakota Kai, Asuka, and Kairi Sane)

Latino World Order (Rey Mysterio and Andrade) vs. Santos Escobar and Dominik Mysterio

We’ve already touched on the main event, the first match that The Rock will actively participate in since 2016, but it’s also worth mentioning that there’s some other high-profile bouts taking place beneath the headliner. The co-main event features two of the most popular women in the business, World Championship belt holder Rhea Ripley vs. Becky Lynch. The Intercontinental Title and the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship straps are also up for grabs tonight.

That means Reigns and Rhodes are essentially headlining both nights at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia and if, as speculated, this is the end for the long-serving champion, WWE are leaving nothing to chance.

The back-to-back Royal Rumble winner is hooking up with Seth "Freakin" Rollins for the tag team clash, and if they win, The Rock and The Bloodline faction will be barred from ringside for tomorrow's headline act. If the tag team match goes the other way, however, Roman Reigns vs Cody Rhodes will follow "Bloodline Rules", a format where anything goes.

From tables and chairs to sticks, trash and even Logan Paul – probably – anything can be used as a weapon.
