Southwest Airlines Checked Baggage

Southwest Airlines allows two pieces of checked baggage free of charge per ticketed Customer, as long as the bags do not exceed 50 pounds and 62 inches (L+W+H).

Overweight checked bags will incur a charge of $100 for weights between 51 and 70 pounds, or $125 for weights between 71 and 100 pounds.

Oversized luggage exceeding 62 inches (up to 80 inches) will incur a charge of $125 per bag.

You may substitute certain items as part of your checked baggage allowance, as long as they do not exceed 62 inches and weigh no more than 50 pounds. If you exceed the measurements or weights indicated, additional charges will apply.

Traveling with babies on Southwest Airlines

If you are traveling with a child under 2 years old who will not occupy a seat, you will not need to purchase a plane ticket. However, you must carry your boarding verification document with you.

Southwest Airlines also offers tickets for children ages two and up, at a lower price than adult fares. A child over 2 years old must have their own seat and carry a boarding pass on the flight. All children must be accompanied by an adult on the plane.
